On Saturday, June 10th 2017, this little pup played a major role in my oldest brother, Scott's, proposal to his girlfriend, Laura! Read all about this magical day, and a little story about how "what's meant to be, will be"
My brother stressed and planned for months. How do you propose to the woman you have loved since your freshman year of college? (He would kill me if he knew I said that was the case, we will get to that story later). She deserved the best and he wanted to give it to her. If you ask me, he nailed it. A puppy and a ring in one day... Sounds like heaven to me! (My dream proposal)
My brother waited in the back yard at my parents house. (I hid). As his girlfriend Laura (was forced) to come out to the deck he told her "he had someone who wanted to meet her". As Laura came down the stairs and approached him she asked "whose is that?!" And Scott replied, "Ours!" he proceeded to say, "now please don't be mad at what I named her" and set the puppy down for Laura to peak at the tag. A little background, they had been discussing dogs and potential names for a while now and could never really agree on a name. Laura looked at the tag and.....
Instant tears and shock when she read "Will You Marry Me?" on the puppies tag. With an instant yes they gave a little kiss and he placed the ring on her finger. All while I am trying to snap pictures without ruining the moment for them!
As she stood up she said something along the lines of, "I can't handle anything else!" and Scott replied with, "You can't handle any more surprises?! Better not turn around!" and Laura turned around slowly, a little worried about what would come next.
Out came a few of Laura's favorite people, her mom and dad! Scott had called them a few weeks ago to come over (and be sneaky about it) to be a part of this day. I didn't think Laura could look any more excited until...
Out came her three brothers! Scott had though of everything! We were all there to witness Scott and Laura get engaged (minus my brother Joe who wasn't in town).
Champagne was popped, and we all shared in a toast. Scott asked someone else to make it, no one stepped up, so I said "To Puppies!" (sarcastic, non serious human I am) and everyone laughed and we cheersed to puppies. And love of course.
I am SO excited to finally have a sister of my own! Growing up with only brothers isn't always the easiest, she did it too, so we are both looking forward to having a sister in our lives! I couldn't ask for a better one at that!

I met Laura when those two were freshman in college. She came over to our parents house during one of their winter breaks. I was only about 13 years old. Laura was so nice to me and I could tell my brother had a crush on her. I knew the day I met her, she would be my sister some day. Her and I would Facebook chat from time to time about shopping trips and other "sister stuff" in my mind. Then the two of them had a falling out. They didn't really speak the rest of their college career. "There goes my shot at a sister" I thought. A little over two years ago, Scott and Laura reconnected. He later bought a house and they moved in together. She has been at so many family events and even went to Arizona with me for a long weekend. She is an incredible lady and my brother could not be luckier! I got the sister I knew I would always get. It just took a little longer than I originally anticipated. They were meant to be. It just took a bit for the universe to make it happen. Everything happens for a reason and what is meant to be will truly be. Never forget that in life, it has helped me through some of the hard times and I hope it helps all of you!
